Plan Your Network Infrastructure

Tell us about the building, its users and the systems the network needs to support. We’ll help you define the appropriate design, installation and support requirements.

Network Installation for Homes, Care Environments and Commercial Sites

Modal AV designs and installs wired network infrastructure, structured cabling and managed Wi-Fi for homes, care environments and commercial sites. Each network is planned around the building, its users and the technology it needs to support.

Coverage, capacity, security, equipment locations and long-term support are considered before installation begins.

A Reliable Foundation for Integrated Technology

Audio visual, automation, security and everyday connectivity place different demands on wired and wireless infrastructure. We begin by defining what the network must support and who will use or manage it.

Building materials, equipment locations, internet services, user groups and connected systems all affect the design. Understanding those conditions early helps avoid coverage gaps, unsuitable cabling routes and unclear responsibilities later.

We coordinate wired connections, wireless coverage, equipment locations and any third-party IT requirements before installation wherever the project allows. This gives the finished network a clearer basis for commissioning, documentation and support.

Wired network and structured cabling

Structured cabling is the backbone of every network we install. From a central communications hub — a neat, ventilated rack or enclosure — dedicated Cat6 or Cat6a cable runs extend in a star topology to every room that needs a wired connection. Each run is professionally terminated, tested, and labelled so that future changes are simple.

For new-build and renovation projects, we work alongside M&E contractors at first-fix stage to lay cables within walls before plastering. For existing properties, we route through lofts, risers, and existing voids — or use discreet micro-trunking when surface-running is the only option.

Structured Cabling for the Installation

Cat6, Cat6A and fibre suit different requirements. We select cable according to bandwidth, run length, connected equipment, power requirements and the installation environment, then terminate, test and label each agreed connection. Fibre may be appropriate for longer backbone links, electrically noisy routes or connections between buildings.

Managed Wi-Fi Designed Around the Building

Wireless coverage depends on layout, construction, interference, expected demand and how people move through the space. We assess the relevant conditions when planning access-point positions and validate the agreed coverage during commissioning.

here appropriate, wired access points, managed switching and separate network groups can provide clearer performance, security and support than an unmanaged setup. The exact configuration is matched to the brief rather than treated as a standard package.

Network Equipment Selected for the Brief

Gateways, switches, access points and management tools are selected around the required coverage, capacity, connected systems and support model. We document the recommendation and explain where a particular platform is appropriate, including UniFi where it suits the brief. Explore our UniFi network integration.

Networks for Homes, Care and Commercial Environments

A home, care environment and commercial site may use similar network technology, but their users, access needs and operating responsibilities differ. We plan the infrastructure around the environment rather than applying one standard design to every project.

Where an internet provider, internal IT team or another contractor is involved, we agree responsibilities and integration boundaries early so access, operation and ongoing support remain clear.

A Clear Approach From Design to Support

Designed for Real Use1

We begin with the people, systems and routines the network must support, then translate those requirements into coverage, capacity and connection decisions.

Coordinated Early2

Cabling routes, equipment locations, power, internet services and third-party responsibilities are considered before installation wherever the project allows.

Tested and Documented3

Agreed cabling is labelled and tested, while wired and wireless operation is checked during commissioning. We record the information needed for handover and support.

UniFi Certified Partner4

Modal AV is listed in UniFi’s official installer directory for engineering and design, system integration and installation, managed services and low-voltage cabling. When UniFi suits the brief, we can coordinate the network from design through to support.

Support Beyond Handover5

Remote assistance, planned maintenance and on-site support can be agreed around the installed network and the way the space depends on it.

Network Monitoring and Support

A network remains easier to support when equipment, access and responsibilities are documented from the start. Where secure remote management is available and appropriate, Modal AV can review network health, investigate reported issues and prepare more effectively for an on-site visit.

Software and firmware changes are considered against compatibility, available backups and operational impact. Planned reviews and support arrangements are agreed for the installation rather than assumed from a standard package.
